A very warm welcome to Wellington School
We are excited to welcome you to our Virtual Open Day and we do hope it gives you a good flavour of the enthusiasm, creativity, warmth and energy that is Wellington School.
We are a vibrant, close-knit community and it is our hope that the essence of the School comes across in this virtual presentation and you are able to get a really good feel for the Wellington Family.
As you start your journey with Wellington School from the comfort of your own home, we would love the next step to be in person very soon, so do book in for a personal visit, or a meeting with our Headmaster or Head of Prep.
Now, sit back and enjoy getting to know the Wellington School community…
Our Open Morning's involve the whole School community, Prep and Senior, giving tours, helping out in departments and performing around the campus. There is always a rich programme of Saturday activities even though we don't have Saturday school, with sporting fixtures, stage school, boarders' activities and events for pupils and parents to enjoy.
On arrival at Open Morning our staff will greet you and show you to your designated parking place. The cricket pitch resounds with the sound of leather on willow and buskers sing under trees on perfectly manicured lawns. As you enter the School you will be welcomed by our friendly Admissions Team and you can sample some of our delicious home-made cakes and pastries.
You now move through to the Great Hall – an impressive space which seats 350 and is used for drama productions, concerts and assemblies. One of our musical ensembles is playing and the Headmaster and Head of Prep are ready to welcome you to the School and give you a flavour of Wellington School.

On our Open Morning we match you up with a pupil to take you on a tour of the School. We always arrange a tour guide who shares interests with your family, so they can let you know how Wellington works for them and may work for you. Our tour guides range from Year 6 pupils in the Prep School, all the way through to our Upper Sixth students. Meet some of our pupils here and find out how Wellington helps them make the most of their interests.
So now you are heading off around the campus, which is bustling with activity!
You will go into all the different departments and meet staff who are passionate about their areas of expertise and also pupils who can share their experiences with you. Glorious music pours out of our beautiful Chapel, pop-up drama groups perform scenes from recent productions, there are sports fixtures on all the pitches, the new astro-turf and in the Olympic standard Sports Complex and you will feel the School fizzing with activity.
You will see experiments, bangs and explosions, historical figures re-enacting scenes, sample Roman food, try laser shooting with our pentathlon team, make personalised key-rings in DT, be inspired by the creativity of the amazing Art team, hear all about our outstanding Outdoor Education programme, listen to our heavenly Chapel Choir performing, experience activities with the Combined Cadet Force, meet renowned fictional characters in the English department and visit our fabulous French café.
You will also see some of our boarders involved in their weekend activities programme. This may include basketball, Design and Technology, Art and Sewing. Later on, they may have a trip or an outing, which may include zorbing, go-karting, paintballing, a visit to the historical city of Bath or a shopping trip to London.
So now, you can sit back, relax, pour yourself a cup of coffee and enjoy the tour from the comfort of your sofa. You can visit both the Prep School and the Senior School if you wish, visit our boarding houses and for our younger visitors join Charlotte for a typical day in our Nursery.

We very much hope you enjoyed your tour and discovered some of what makes the School so special. Visitors always remark on the friendliness of Wellington. We have strong pastoral structures, so each pupil sits within a house and has a personal tutor who will oversee their daily life and ensure they are happy and fulfilled. Within the Senior School, there are three distinct areas; Lower School – Year 7 and 8, Upper School – Year 9,10 and 11 and the Sixth Form (Year 12 and 13). Each part is led by a Head of Section who has extensive teaching, academic and pastoral experience and will have overall responsibility for the pupils. You can meet them here…
